Dates: 3 times a year, for 4 weeks each time. (12 weeks total). Details below.

Salary: $45.00 per hour. Part time/ seasonal, no benefits.

Summary of Head House Manager Position:
in addition to the House Manager (HM) job duties (see below), the Head House Manager coordinates scheduling of ushers for the duration of the season. They answer emails thru a Renaissance Theaterworks (RTW) email account, create sign-up sheets using Sign Up Genius, and find replacement ushers when there are cancellations. This involves closely monitoring the “usher” email account in the 2 weeks leading up to opening, and while RTW is in production. (I.e., while a show is in performances). The Head HM typically works all 4 shows of opening weekend.

Position Requirements: must be friendly and open to patrons and staff; must be punctual; be able to stand for one hour and move easily up and down stairs; enjoy being around people of all ages and abilities; be comfortable with maintaining building security by locking/ unlocking doors; knowledge and passion for theater, preferred.

Schedule: A typical “shift” is approximately 3 hours. RTW performs 3 shows per season, for 4 weeks, 6 shows per week, for a total of 21 performances per show. The Head HM does not have to do all 21 performances, the responsibility is shared with 2-3 other House Managers. Head HM will have the option to pick their preferred dates first, then shows that remain open will be passed along to the other HM’s. See season show calendar for dates and times. 

Summary of House Manager Position: The House Manager (HM) at Renaissance Theaterworks (RTW) is responsible for ensuring the smooth and timely seating of all patrons into the theater space before a performance begins. The HM arrives 1 hour before show time, prepares the lobby, is in charge of volunteer ushers, and takes tickets. The HM remains throughout the performance, and performs closing duties.

Job Duties: arrive 1 hour before show time – Prepare the lobby for patrons by turning on lights, unlocking doors, tidying up any refuse, or rearranging tables/chairs — Check the theater seating for trash/ safety/ or accessibility concerns – greet and train the volunteer ushers, 2 people per show – prep programs – log in to a computer system, and fill out an e-report with details on the running of the performance – greet patrons and take tickets – coordinate with box office for ticketing concerns – answer general questions from patrons – coordinate with Stage Management to begin the show – remain in HM office or lobby during the show – post show closing duties of locking up, sending the HM report, tidying up and turning off lights.
