The Mark Zinger Memorial Foundation is proud to sponsor the first annual Mark Zinger Memorial Concert in the Mary Patricia Gannon Concert Hall at the DePaul School of Music's brand-new, world-class Holtschneider Performance Center.
The Zinger Foundation is honored to collaborate with DePaul University for the foundation’s inaugural concert celebrating the life and legacy of Professor Mark Zinger, who was a beloved member of the DePaul School of Music faculty for over 25 years, serving as violin professor and head of strings.
This concert will be a wonderful opportunity to hear and meet some of Professor Zinger’s most distinguished students, who perform as soloists and members of leading orchestras throughout the United States, including longtime Grant Park Orchestra concertmaster Jeremy Black and internationally renowned violist/violinist Elias Goldstein (BM '04, MM '06). Performers will also include Stephen Balderston, DePaul cello professor and former assistant principal cello of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
The two-hour concert will include solo and chamber performances of works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Kroll, Sibelius, Kreisler, Dinicu and Paganini along with brief remarks by several of the performers about the impact Professor Zinger had on their lives and careers. The program will conclude with a 25-member violin choir composed of Professor Zinger’s former students from throughout the US performing works by Vivaldi, Brahms, Fibich and Shostakovich.
A complimentary reception will follow the concert, hosted by the Zinger Foundation, allowing audience members the opportunity to interact with these acclaimed performers.
Admission is free, though donations to the Mark Zinger Memorial Foundation, established by his family and students to sustain his remarkable legacy, will be gratefully accepted.
Seating is limited, so please reserve your free tickets by clicking "Register" at the top of this page. There is a limit of two tickets per e-mail address.
Parking is available one block from the concert venue at the Lincoln Commons Garage, 2316 N Lincoln Avenue (ParkWhiz or SpotHero reservations recommended).
