At Greendale Community Theatre, we aim to be on the leading edge of theatre in southeastern Wisconsin and to challenge ourselves and our participants on and off the stage, as well as the audience and community. As a Milwaukee area theatre group, we are dedicated to providing enriching, entertaining, educational, and quality performing arts through a combination of contemporary musical theatre works, fresh looks at classic dramatic and comedic musicals, and original pieces of work.
"Re-defining" Community Theatre:
We thought about changing our name because the word "community", when it comes to theatre, has a negative connotation. We decided instead to stand for this word that some may cringe at - community - and make sure that we strive to serve it. The only reason we would change our name is for selfish gain, to perhaps help others to perceive us in a better light, but changing our name would not change who we are and what we have grown to be.
Modeled after Broadway Cares: Equity Fights AIDS, we have made it a tradition to select a charity for “pass the hat” donations after each show. Whenever possible, we choose a charity that has a connection to a theme presented in the musical. So far, we have raised over $30,373 and counting in donations for local charities in the community.
We are incredibly thankful for support from many people throughout the years including community members, the Greendale School District, and the countless number of volunteers that make our productions come together seamlessly. Last, and certainly not least, we must thank the Greendale Park and Recreation Department for its advocacy, endless support, and faithful trust in our vision of producing quality musical theatre.
