The building that houses the Mercury Theater was built in 1912 as a silent Nickelodeon theatre. In 1994 it was purchased, and Mercury Theater was born.
The Mercury Theater Chicago is an intimate jewelbox of a theater seating 290 people in continental Style theater seating plan in which there is no center aisle, but with wide spacing between each row of seats to allow for ease of passage. It is available for commercial productions as well as local non-profit producers. An anchor in the southport corridor community, Mercury Theater Chicago beats at the heart of a sophisticated neighborhood of shopping dining and entertainment.
