The feature Sherlock Jr./Cops has been replaced with Buster Keaton in Steamboat Bill, Jr. as well as a special, surprise short.

The cancellation of Sherlock, Jr. & Cops is due to the presenting rights. The film, along with a number of other Keaton features that are not in the public domain, have been embargoed by the rights’ holder while all his films are remastered in DCP (digital) format. Most of Keaton’s major works won’t be available again until at least 2018.

In the silent comedy Steamboat Bill, Jr., a college boy reunites with his riverboat captain father, and proceeds to fall for his father’s rival’s daughter. As inclement weather strikes, his father is arrested. This film features Keaton’s most famous single stunt!

Duck Soup Cinema Celebrates 30 Years

For 30 years now, we’ve revived and celebrated the legacy of Capitol Theater, originally built for silent film. Our two series, Sounds of Silents (1986-1998) and Duck Soup Cinema (1999-Present), have engaged more than 90,000 patrons in silent film experiences. We are nationally known for providing an authentic silent film experience complete with music on the 1928 Grand Barton Organ—one of the last organs of its kind—plus vaudeville entertainment with a wonderful Master of Ceremonies, door prizes, and a classic feature film accompanied on the organ or by other live musicians. Please join us for our special 30th Anniversary Season of silent films.
