This mature drama, which won three Oscars at the 1st Academy Awards in 1929, is a tale about a farmer fighting good and evil within him – choosing between an urbane woman and his wife at home. Director F.W. Murnau used the Fox Movietone sound-on-film system, making Sunrise one of the first feature films with a synchronized musical score and sound effects soundtrack.
