Your Regional Guide To The Performing Arts

Presented by Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts

Award-winning instrumentalist, vocalist, and bandleader Cynthia Sayer is celebrated as one of the top 4-string jazz banjoists in the world today: soulful, edgy, both contemporary and classic, with a playing style all her own. She was inducted into the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame in 2006 and has performed with the New York Philharmonic, as well as at such venues as Lincoln Center and Tribeca Performing Arts Center. In addition to producing the annual Hot Strings Festival at City Winery New York, she was the official banjoist for the New York Yankees. Praised for her “drive and virtuosity” by The New York Times, Cynthia will be joined by her quartet to enchant Wilson Center audiences with the rarely heard range and versatility of America’s original jazz instrument.
